Description
Fort Gratiot was established in 1814 around which the current city of Port Huron developed and became an incorporated city in 1857 after removal and relocation of the native population of Ojibwa people inhabiting the area. The first industries to start up in this community were the shipbuilding and the lumber industry which grew the city, and in 1871 Port Huron was designated as the county seat.
The population in the 2010 census was 30,184. This collage contains images of some of the older and more interesting buildings in the downtown area, along with the Blue Water Bridge that links Port Huron to Sarnia, Canada.
