The granite around Acadia National Park is about 360 million years old and was formed through several volcanic processes. The fine granite and coarse granite containing large crystals, quartz and other minerals all cooled at different rates. Over time, the rock face has become a home to various forms of lichen adding more colors to the already beautiful patterns in the rock. I hope you enjoy natures abstracts as much as I do.
